Let flowers speak

Flowers greet us on the kitchen table, smile from windows, tell stories of celebrations and of people who have thought of us. They bring color to our lives and can even act as little interpreters, helping us convey our feelings. floriography . Did you know that a yellow chrysanthemum symbolizes "hurt love," while a freesia represents "lasting friendship"?

Many guests tell us they like to brighten up their vacation rental with fresh flowers while on holiday. In our new post for Lübeck ZWISCHENZEILEN I'll take you on a floral journey through Lübeck and introduce you to seven special flower shops that inspire me with their variety and creativity. After all, you don't need a special occasion to bring a smile to your face or a loved one's face with a creatively arranged bouquet or a single rose.

"Be like the violet in the moss, demure, modest, and quiet. Not like the proud rose, which always wants to be admired."

Entry in my poetry album, 1970

7 towers – 7 tips

Gutjahr Flower Shop

On the edge of the old town island at Kronsforder Allee 19A, you'll find the Gutjahr flower shop . Owner Jessica Wendt describes herself as a passionate florist, specializing in floral arrangements for weddings. But even if you're not planning on tying the knot, I recommend a visit to Gutjahr, especially for the personalized consultations. Jessica is a master of her craft, which demands creativity, a feel for shapes and colors, and technical skill. She believes that people who work with flowers primarily need a good eye for harmony, a sense of which blossoms complement each other, which colors enhance or soothe, and which textures add interest to an arrangement.

Flower Land

At Pfaffenstraße 6 Elke Erdmann awaits me in her Blumenland . Here, bouquets aren't simply arranged; I get the impression that moods are captured and small works of art are created. I also love Blumenland because rich greens, soft pastels, and earthy accents blend harmoniously. While waiting for my spring bouquet, I enjoy the dark, wine-red backdrop, which lends the room a luxurious atmosphere. Mirrors with Gothic window elements reflect the light and stylishly showcase the flowers. Here, it becomes clear how much a harmonious ambiance can enhance the beauty of plants.

The Floral Workshop

The Floral Workshop at Hüxstraße 98 is more of a concept store than a traditional flower shop. Alongside plants and cut flowers, floral installations take center stage. The selection is truly exceptional. For Martina Dummann and Katrin Gollan, flowers are indispensable accessories for the living spaces that surround us. The owners are all about conscious experience and a sense of beauty that endures beyond the moment. A floral installation can lend a room a sense of lightness, making it feel warmer, more vibrant, or more playful. With blossoms and branches, they create an atmosphere that is not intrusive, yet palpable. It's almost as if nature is reclaiming a place in everyday life – sometimes orderly and elegant, sometimes wild and uninhibited.

Floral

Florales, located at Hüxtertorallee 5, Wiebke Gill 's creative hub . Here, I learn that bouquets featuring wildflowers and lush greenery are currently trending. Pastel colors and harmonious compositions that bring a sense of calm to everyday life are also in demand. Besides lovingly arranged bouquets, the focus is on the creative design of stages and events. Florales also lends a special atmosphere to the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival with its artfully crafted floral decorations.

Huch Flowers & Interiors at Hüxstraße 96. The shop is a small oasis for the senses. Upon entering, the scent of fresh earth mingles with the delicate aroma of blooming roses. Kranzgenau for an article about Beckergrube. Owners Hannah Sonntag and Sina Fischer focus on sustainability in their shop at Beckergrube 59-61, Dried flowers are experiencing a real comeback – and rightly so. Their soft, earthy colors, delicate textures, and timeless elegance make them a true eye-catcher.

Where fresh flowers wilt after just a few days, dried flowers last for months, sometimes even years – a touch of eternity, captured in delicate grasses, fragrant lavender, and feather-light pampas grass. This trend reflects the desire for sustainability and longevity, but also a yearning for naturalness and a touch of vintage romance. Want to get creative yourself? Then I recommend booking workshops

Waltz of the Flowers

Waltz of the Flowers at Beckergrube 29 also offers dried flowers. Whether as a loosely arranged bouquet, an artistic wall decoration, or combined with fresh flowers, dried flowers lend a warm, poetic atmosphere to any room. All arrangements are handmade. Irina Udzilauri, has fulfilled her lifelong dream and turned her hobby into her profession by founding her business. Naturally, she always takes her customers' individual wishes into account when designing the bouquets. Here, even unconventional arrangements are welcome. Perhaps you'd like to take home one of the bell-shaped containers or a glass vase filled with arranged dried flowers?

Do you ever get that feeling? You walk past an inscription, a sculpture, or a plaque and you just have to stop and find out what it's all about? That's how it is for me. ALWAYS! "One only sees what one already knows and understands." I couldn't agree more with Goethe on that point. That's precisely why I never want to stop discovering the seemingly insignificant, recognizing connections, learning new things, and getting to the bottom of people and their stories. Okay, and writing overly long sentences... And learning new languages, of course...
