Have you ever realized the bronze doorknobs on the Epistle Chapel at St. Mary’s?
Probably not, because this is not the main entrance to the mother church of brick Gothic, but the one
to the Epistle Chapel, one of 19 chapels in St. Mary’s. Its name derives from the clerks who once had their stalls in the chapel. In the Middle Ages, they produced deeds, contracts and documents here for people who had no writing skills.
I really like this little detail. The door handles were designed by the artist Ingeborg Bukor. Her thought: The people seeking shelter from the rain under the umbrellas also want support and security in faith and in the community.
