Magic in Lübeck's glass dome

Light that shines through the seasons

A magical fairytale world inside a glass dome

Even from afar, the glass dome, with its protective glass cupola, draws attention. It looks a bit like an illuminated flying object. Its transparent walls capture the daylight and make the enchanting details inside shine. When darkness falls, the colorful world of the dome shimmers with a fairytale glow that revives childhood dreams. Or adult dreams. Because inside, it's all about fairytales. And no: it's nothing like you imagine.

The fairy tales in the glass dome are presented in a rather unorthodox way. There are hidden clues. Sometimes you have to look very closely. During your tour, you'll very likely strike up conversations with other people who are also wondering which fairy tale might be being referred to. Rapunzel, isn't she the one with the hair extensions?

More is more

If you're someone who needs a lot of clarity and loves minimalist simplicity, you might find it just a tiny bit overwhelming. Inside the Dome, everything is colorful, glittering, glamorous, iridescent, and sparkling. Soap bubbles drift through the air. A majestic white stag draws the eye into the distance. Teddy bears, toys, an armchair for Santa Claus, colorful baubles. The most whimsical details are presented with a wink and a smile. Just like in life, nothing seems to fit together perfectly, and then you find the common thread. And that's precisely why the Dome is my place of longing. I love the abundance and the sparkle. The extras.

What do you dream of? That Ken anticipates your every wish? That magnificent birds of paradise take you to your exotic dream destination? Surely that, like in a fairy tale, everything turns out well in the end? Yes, that would be wonderful.

Life won't sparkle unless you do!

Do you ever get that feeling? You walk past an inscription, a sculpture, or a plaque and you just have to stop and find out what it's all about? That's how it is for me. ALWAYS! "One only sees what one already knows and understands." I couldn't agree more with Goethe on that point. That's precisely why I never want to stop discovering the seemingly insignificant, recognizing connections, learning new things, and getting to the bottom of people and their stories. Okay, and writing overly long sentences... And learning new languages, of course...
